If you cannot detect a cavity, how can you treat it? Today, many cavities have gone “underground.” While helping to improve the oral health of many Americans, fluoridation has resulted in harder tooth enamel. As a result, many cavities have migrated below the tooth surface. Traditional diagnostic methods, however, have not adjusted to the change and can yield inconclusive results. The Diagnodent laser provides a solution.
Diagnodent uses proven laser technology to detect and quantify hidden or sub-surface cavities by measuring laser fluorescence within the structure of a tooth. A clean healthy tooth exhibits little or no fluorescence. Whereas, a tooth with a cavity will fluoresce.
Diagnodent is safe – it uses only light energy and no exposure to x-rays. It is painless and non-invasive.
With Diagnodent’s diagnostic capabilities, cavities can be accurately identified and treated earlier than ever before. Early detection usually means more conservative and cost effective treatment options.
The Diagnodent has proven to be an extremely accurate, reliable and non-invasive method to aid in the accurate detection of cavities. The Diagnodent is yet another technological tool we use to improve patient care.
